The King Family

The entire King family came up for a dinner. The first use of the new porch for an event. The railing is not quite done but we still had a great time.

North Fork Fiber Guild

With the loom assembled the next step was to tie it up and get it ready for warping. Margaret, Monica and Elena all helped me learn how to tie everything up and set it up for weaving. Here they are doing their spinning, naalbinding and knitting after we got the loom tied up.

We set it up for a balanced twill and tabby just to play with initially.

Here I am testing out the treadles to see if I can reach them all easily.

Loom Assembled & First Fleece Skirting

The big Glimakra loom got assembled in the shop on 4 August.

My friend Elena Dent came to visit and got roped in to not only helping assemble the loom but also to help start the skirting of our 2008 fleeces. Normally we are done by now but with the construction I didn't get started until now.

Visitors

Roy & Pim from the Netherlands arrived for a short visit. We stored a mountain bike for Roy for a couple of years in our garage. I know Pim from my old multimedia programming days.
Here they are getting the bikes ready for some test riding.

We had a fun time visiting with them and I hope they enjoy their US stay and get to do a lot of good trails here.

Winter Guests

Ken's brother Peter and his wife Allieen came to visit us for a week just past. We had a wonderful time and they even appreciated the snow and cold. We got to go to some museums we had never been to, did a full day of baking and ate way too much good food. We even had a full day of scrapbooking. While the plane trips both to and from were rather interesting with cancelled flights and other problems they made it here and back safely and we had a fun time in the middle.
