First part of the annual spring tune-up for the sheep. Yearling rams all got tags inserted and toes trimmed.
30 sheep times 4 legs per sheep times 2 toes per leg means my hands are tired!
Desert Weyr is a small sustainable family farm in Western Colorado. We raise Black Welsh Mountain sheep, a few chickens and also have Arabian horses.
Congratulations on getting the job done! We've been putting off spring pedicures here at Hatchtown Farm waiting for the ground to dry up some. There's so much muck and yuck on the sheep's "toes" that we scrape for five minutes per foot before we can even begin trimming.
